Biographical Note Arnold Berleant is a scholar of philosophy and music.

He was born on March 4, in Buffalo, New York. His professional activities include his role as former Secretary-General and past President of the International Association of Aesthetics, former Secretary-Treasurer of the American Society for Aesthetics, and founding editor of the online journal Contemporary Aesthetics, a journal that focuses on contemporary theory, research, and application in aesthetics. His scholarly works in philosophy focus on the study of aesthetics, environmental aesthetics, and ethics.

Berleant has written and edited a number of books and articles. In addition to his work in the field of philosophy, Arnold Berleant has written numerous musical compositions.

He is currently Professor Emeritus, philosophy faculty, C. Post, Long Island University, where he taught from Arrangement These records are arranged in twelve series: I. Biographical; II. Book Reviews; III. Books; IV. Conferences and Events; V. Correspondence; VI.

Digital records processed by Sarah Pinard, December Paper additions were processed by Marie Elia, September Some files have been redacted to protect personal identifiable information or Protected Health Information PHI in accordance with federal regulations and UB Libraries policies.

Some folder titles were altered during processing to help researchers identify the contents of the folders. Paper materials from the addition were incorporated into existing series and files with the exception of the musical compositions, which were added as series XII. Contents have not been removed from this storage device. Digital files created by Arnold Berleant were transferred to the University Archives on various types of storage media including compact discs and a USB flash drive.

Some folder titles were altered and file arrangement reorganized to assist researchers in locating and identifying digital content.
